Engel Law Office

Engel Law Office has been providing superior quality legal services to the Southeastern Minnesota region since 2000. We take a practical and professional approach to cases, with the objective of meeting our client’s needs in the most efficient and effective way possible. We pride ourselves on listening and being responsive to our client’s needs. We understand that your legal matter is extremely important to you and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Because of our past record of success and personalized service, we receive many referrals from other professionals and former clients. As a result, demand for our services has traditionally been very high, particularly during January and June. Because of our dedication to existing clients and their needs, we periodically are required to turn away potential clients. However, we welcome inquiries at all times of the year–even about legal matters not within our area of expertise–and will take the time to point you in the right direction to resolve your legal issue.

The Attorney

Kalene Engel founded Engel Law Office in 2000, just three years after graduating as valedictorian of her class of 240 students at William Mitchell College of Law. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal from Winona State University and 10 years of experience as a personal injury law paralegal-turned-associate attorney at Suk Law Firm in Rochester, she started a solo, general practice firm in Winona. Over the years, Kalene has taken on additional work responsibilities in different capacities including as an adjunct professor at Winona State University, a municipal clerk, a volleyball coach, a court-appointed attorney, a school board member and a criminal justice consultant. She is a trained mediator and served as a conciliation court (small claims court) referee in the Third Judicial District for eight years. She has volunteered thousands of community service hours for a number of programs/board of directors and is deeply invested in the communities within which she lives and practices law.
